Still here...

Well, over the last several months I have produced dozens and dozens of temple cards...primarily as gifts and for missionaries. This brings me great joy! As my family continued this year to visit a few more temples (still working toward our goal to visit all Utah temples), my testimony of the importance of temples has been strengthened and I will continue to make my cards in order to share the beauty and peace of the temples.

I love to see the Temple!

Funny how life works ... I've been taking temple pictures, in addition to photos of flowers and nature, and making cards from my photos for gifts and note cards for a couple of years here in Utah. Last month, my husband's sister asked if I could make some notecards to send to her daughter serving a mission and also make up some cards for my niece's companion. I was happy to do so. Then , over Thanksgiving, my sister in law, who lives in California, was visiting Utah and had been trying to find temple note cards for my nephew serving his mission. She thought it would be nice for him to have temple cards for thank you notes as well as notes to family and friends, many of which are not members of the Church. She went to several Utah and California stores that carried LDS items and found nothing. She also came up empty handed while looking on line. Having been the recipient of a large framed print of the Salt Lake City Temple as a Christmas gift that I gave her a few years back, she mentioned I should sell temple cards. When she mentioned this idea to me, I chuckled and said I had been making temple cards with my photos for a few years now -- for Young Women birthday gifts, wedding gift cards, etc. I said I'd be happy to make some for my nephew, on her behalf, and she quickly ordered 20 note cards and asked if I would ship them to him. I made 36 cards for him, after all -- we're family -- there should be some bonuses, and I thought I should put together a blog and see if other missionary moms are in need of temple notecards for their missionaries. Not having children old enough to serve missions yet, I never thought of the need for notecards and stationery -- cards that would represent a missionary yet have an uplifting message, thought, or picture. Hence, the creation of the LDS Temple Cards blog.

My family and I made it a goal to visit all the Utah LDS temples this year so as we "touch" the temple we can let the temple "touch" us. My children are 15, 11, and 4 -- all of us can't go inside, but we've enjoyed visiting, "touching," and learning about the temples near us. We may not make our goal by the end of the year, but we will keep pressing forward until we have visiting every Utah temple. Consequently, I will continue to have new photos of temples and as we travel I always stop for pictures at any neighboring temple. So hopefully my "portfolio" of temple photos will continue to grow.

Once my husband gets the order button on, anyone will be able to order a dozen assorted temple card sets. Shipping, etc, will be a work in progress if anything needs to go out of US. As we grow, sets of individual temples may be available. Emails with suggestions and ideas, like those from my wonderful sister in law, will always be welcome!

Bottom line, I love photography and the ability to capture the beauty of our world! LDS Temples are one of the most beautiful creations our Heavenly Father has given us!
